10 Things About Me
I’m Kristy Tate. I write cozy mysteries and whimsical women’s fiction full of witty characters, cozy towns, and pretzel-like plots. I’ve been lucky enough to publish more than forty titles and earn a USA Today bestselling title along the way. If you love a touch of mystery, swoony heroes, and a side of family chaos, you’re in the right place.
Here are some things you might not know.
1. I’ve always been a reader. Growing up, you could often find me in the library.
2. My first love was mysteries. (Hello, Boxcar Children and Encyclopedia Brown). When I was in junior high, I read all of Agatha Christie’s novels.
3. What’s an INFJ? In Myers-Briggs terms, that means I’m an introvert. But I much prefer the nickname they give my personality type: The Mastermind. It basically means my brain is hardwired to observe and orchestrate intricate, complex puzzles (which comes in very handy when plotting a mystery!)
4. I’ve been married for more than forty years. You’ll see pictures of my hubs on social media, and he’s okay with that.
5. I have six amazing children and a few darling grandbabies. You won’t see them (from me) on social media. While they are the light of my life, I choose to keep them off my author social media accounts, but rest assured, their charming chaos constantly inspires my writing. (Be very careful what you say around me.)
6. I have social anxiety, and crowds make me nervous. Chocolate helps.
7. I sometimes have panic attacks. They’re terrifying, so I try to avoid them. This might mean I’ll suddenly leave a room, which may seem rude, but it beats the alternative.
8. I’m super lucky that I’ve been able to travel to seventy countries. My goal is to visit a hundred. (Just kidding, that’s my husband’s goal. Without him, I’d rarely leave my house.)
9. I love my big dog and like most dogs, even the slobbery ones.
10. Besides reading and writing, my other hobbies include baking, gardening, painting,
piano playing, yoga, and card games.
